Tess Hall (1927-2019)

Alberta Hall, 92, a lifelong resident of Beacon, died June 11, 2019, at Briarcliff Manor Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Known as “Tess,” she was born Feb. 28, 1927, in Beacon, the daughter of Frederick and Theresa (Reed) Hall. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and retired as a legal secretary for attorney Julius Boccia.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews: Glen Hall, Gretchen Capiello, Marlene Mordas and Gregory Mordas. She was the last surviving of six children. A funeral service was held June 22 at St Luke’s Church.

William Lee

William Lee (1941-2019)

William Edward Lee, 78, of St. Petersburg, Florida, and formerly of Beacon, died June 19, 2019.

Born in Newburgh on Jan. 29, 1941, he was the son of Augustus and Margaret (McGraw) Lee. He graduated from Newburgh Free Academy. He was a retired sergeant for the City of Newburgh Police and served as fire police captain for the Dutchess Junction Fire Co.

William is survived by his wife, Sharon (LePore); his children, William Lee (Renee), Timothy Lee; John (Jack) Catalano, Jay Catalano (Tracey) and Jennifer Howard (Rob). He also is survived by his grandchildren, William Edward Lee II, Michael Goldfarb, Brittany Goldfarb, Cory Catalano, Nicholas Catalano, Zachary Hackbart, Kailyn Hackbart, Rebecca DeLeo, Madison DeLeo and Jack Howard, and his former wife, Elaine Lee.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 5, at Brooks Funeral Home, 481 Gidney Ave., in Newburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, at St Francis of Assisi Church, 145 Benkard Ave., in Newburgh, followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery in New Windsor.

Mary Parow

Mary Parow (1935-2019)

Mary Ellen Parow, 84, died on June 12, 2019, at her home in Rock Hill, South Carolina, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Beacon on Feb. 8, 1935, the daughter of Charles and Hilda Kormondy. After graduating from Beacon High School and the Conover School of Modeling in New York City, Mary was employed as a secretary for many years at the Texaco Research Center in Glenham and at IBM East Fishkill. She retired in 1995 from the Governor’s Office of New York State Tourism in Poughkeepsie.

On March 22, 1959, Mary married George Parow at the First Presbyterian Church of Beacon. She loved the outdoors and the seashore. In 2005, George and Mary relocated to Rock Hill to be closer to her family. In March 2019, she celebrated 60 years of marriage to George at a gala affair.

Mary was a charter member of the Fishkill Jaycees. She was also a member of the Fishkill Democratic Club.

Besides her husband, she is survived by four children: George Parow Jr. of Danbury; Kenneth Parow of Niskayuna, New York; Sandra Lynn Skerritt of Charlotte, North Carolina; and Jennifer Anselmo (Diego) of Mint Hill, North Carolina. She also is survived by eight grandchildren: Alexandra, Tyler, Daniel, Nicholas, Kenny, Alec, Brandon and Andrew; a great-granddaughter, Ava Grace; and a sister, Kathryn Shea (Paul) of Merrimack, New Hampshire.

A memorial service was held on June 17 in South Carolina, with interment to follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
