Hilary Fiege (1943-2019)
Hilary R. Fiege Jr., 75, a longtime Beacon and Wappingers Falls resident, died Aug. 19, 2019.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1943, in Beacon, the son of Hilary and Virginia (Wager) Fiege. He served with the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1960 to 1965. He married Rosie Bacon.
Besides his wife, Hilary is survived by sons, Anthony Fiege and Ronald Fiege, and two grandchildren, Jessica and Brandon. He is also survived by his siblings: Mary Laurelli, Richard Fiege, Donald Fiege and John Fiege.
Dottie Lucy
Dottie Lucy (1930-2019)
Dorothy L. “Dottie” Lucy, 89, of Fishkill, died Aug. 15, 2019.
She was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Sunderland, Massachusetts, the daughter of Sylvester and Stasia (Szmakowski) Jackimowicz.
While visiting her sister, Marjorie Romanelli, in Beacon, she met the man who would become her husband of 68 years, Douglas Lucy. They were married on Sept. 16, 1950, at St. John’s Church in Beacon and shortly afterward moved to Fishkill.
Dottie was a member of St. Mary, Mother of the Church and worked as a secretary at IBM Poughkeepsie and East Fishkill for many years, where she met her lifelong friends, Anna Leighton Edel and Jane Fields, who both survive. Dot enjoyed traveling with her husband, anything Polish, and most important, spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Dottie is survived by her children, Dennis Lucy (Grace) of Seminole, Florida; Douglas Lucy, Jr. (Kathleen) of Fishkill; and Dawn Livermore (Jeff), of Seminole. She also is survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at St. Mary, Mother of the Church, 106 Jackson St., in Fishkill, with entombment to follow at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org).
Joe McCormick
Joe McCormick (1929-2019)
Joseph P. McCormick, 89, of Chelsea, died Aug. 20, 2019, at The Pines at Poughkeepsie.
Born Dec. 3, 1929, in Newburgh, he was the son of Joseph and Hazel (Sarvis) McCormick. He married Gloria VanVlack in Beacon on June 20, 1954. She died in 1997.
Joe worked as a printer in Poughkeepsie and Beacon and later at American Lumber. He was a life member of Chelsea Fire Co. and enjoyed fishing, especially with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughters, Lynne Given (Robert) of Sherman, Connecticut and Lisa McCormick (Ronald Jackson) of Poughkeepsie; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Straub, Catalano & Halvey Funeral Home, 55 E. Main St., in Wappingers Falls, followed by interment at Wappingers Rural Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Chelsea Fire Co., 16 Liberty St., Chelsea, NY 12512.
