Pleasant Valley resident apparently killed by pet

A Pleasant Valley woman died on Saturday (Sept. 7) after apparently being attacked by at least one of her two coonhounds.

The New York State Police and Pleasant Valley Fire Department were called to the woman’s home at 4 p.m. by a call to 911. Police said Arlene Renna, 67, had been found unconscious on the living room floor by her husband after he arrived home. She died at the scene.

The state police said an investigation determined that Renna’s wounds were consistent with a dog attack.  The coonhounds were secured by Dutchess County SCPA, and a judge will decide their fate.
