Toll Brothers project

Construction began in June on the Toll Brothers at Hudson Landing development. Although the 93-home project is located on the waterfront in Fishkill, it is within the Beacon school district.

Edgewater groundbreaking

Beacon Mayor Lee Kyriacou and developer Rodney Weber broke ground Thursday (July 28) for Edgewater, a 246-unit, seven-building apartment complex approved by the city in 2018. Located near Tompkins Avenue and Bank Street, it will overlook the river and train station.

  1. Just what Fishkill and Beacon need: more townhomes and apartments so that our roads are even more crowded and the town becomes even more like Staten Island or New York City. I guess our officials don’t like having quaint towns where you feel safe and what should be a 10-minute drive takes you 45 minutes. [via Facebook]

  2. A lot of people objected to the approval for the Edgewater apartment development. Somehow the mayor helping to break ground seems a little much. [via Facebook]

  3. I know that housing and development are deeply complex issues further complicated by the power of profit, but I struggle to understand why we’re building more apartments when so many developments aren’t even sold out.

When Beacon stops looking like the idyllic river city, who will want to continue to move here and pay these prices for what isn’t even a house with land? [via Instagram]
