Residents invited to serve on advisory committee

The Garrison school district is looking for two community volunteers to serve on its Budget Advisory Committee for the 2023-24 school year.

The committee, which reports to the Finance Committee, assists the school board in identifying potential budget savings.

The district says its objective for 2023-24 is to investigate incentives for installing rooftop and/or ground-mounted grid-connected solar panels. Prospective committee members are required to possess knowledge of the solar industry or a related field, be familiar with incentive programs and have experience in conducting financial cost and benefits analyses.

Areas for review by the advisory committee include (1) evaluating whether the Garrison district is a candidate for adopting solar energy, (2) identifying state and federal incentives available for solar energy, (3) assessing the financial advantages of solar energy, (4) examining the environmental and health benefits associated with solar energy, (5) exploring potential compensation mechanisms for solar energy and (6) understanding the planning and state approval process for solar energy projects.

Applicants must be residents of the district but do not need to have children enrolled at the school. To apply, submit a letter of interest and resume by Dec. 22 to District Clerk Dusti Callo at [email protected].
