As we continue to grow, we are seeking a talented and creative  Marketing and Digital Content Specialist  to join our Communications team. As a Marketing and Digital Content Specialist, you will play a crucial role in developing and executing our digital marketing strategies with various departments throughout the organization, with a primary focus on the City’s Parks & Recreation division.   The ideal candidate will have a passion for storytelling, a strong understanding of digital platforms, and a proven track record of creating engaging and effective content with experience in local government Parks and Recreation preferred.
 
Primary Functions and Accountabilities: 
This role involves managing and creating engaging content for the City of Leawood’s digital platforms, including the official website and various social media accounts, as well as print and copy. The candidate will work closely with the Communications Manager and other departments with primary focus on Parks & Recreation to develop and implement social media strategies, manage the city’s brand, and assist in public information during citywide incidents. 
 
 Key responsibilities include: 

Developing multimedia content (copy, photos, videos, audio) that aligns with the Leawood brand. 
Assist in creating and managing content for the City’s monthly e-newsletter.
Assist in the design and dissemination of the bi-annual Parks, Recreation & Arts program guide.
Collaborate with Parks and Recreation team members regarding major projects and events to assist in the marketing and outreach of such.
Proactively identify marketing opportunities and advise of Parks and Recreation leadership initiatives and strategies.
Assist the City’s Communications Manager and Parks and Recreation Director in working with the City’s Graphic Design Specialist.
Support transparent decision-making and fostering a positive, collaborative culture.
May attend public meetings and events as needed and perform other related work, as required.

Experience in using Canva or Adobe products and photography/videography is a plus. The candidate should exhibit a positive attitude, take personal accountability for projects, and work proactively to meet department and communication goals. Other related work may be required as needed.
 
Minimum Education, Training and Certifications Requirements: 

Must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in marketing, digital content creation, or equivalent experience.  Equivalent experience includes an Associate’s degree in Marketing or related field plus three (3) years of experience or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field plus one (1) year of experience. 
Must possess a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record per the City’s drivers  Use of Vehicles for City Business  policy throughout employment with the City.

Starting Rate of Pay: $23.39 – $28.65 / Hourly, DOQ
(This is a non-exempt benefits eligible position.)
