Paul Banick (1940-2024)

 Paul J. Banick Sr., 84, died Dec. 16 at a hospice in Delray Beach, Florida.

He was born March 12, 1940, in the Bronx. He married the former Jean “Jenny” Sutherland on July 11, 1959.

Paul was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and a member of Teamsters Local 456, where he was a heavy equipment hauler in New York City and surrounding areas. According to his grandchildren, he was the best at his job because grandpa drove the big truck. Paul was a lifelong member of the Lewis Tompkins Hose Co., St. Rocco’s Society, the Elks in Beacon and Florida, Moose Lodge, Carmen Ramputi Marine Corps Detachment 861.

Paul and Jenny loved to travel, and for their 50th anniversary visited Hawaii and took an Alaskan cruise. They retired in Greenacres, Florida, where they loved going out with friends, visiting casinos and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.

Along with his wife of 65 years, Paul is survived by his sons, Howard Banick of Beacon and David Banick (Dawn); and this grandchildren, Brady, Bailey and Jessica Lynn. His son, Paul Jr., and his sisters, Margaret and Francine, died earlier.

The family will receive friends on Sunday (Dec. 22) from 2 to 5 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman St., in Beacon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. at St. Joachim’s Church, 51 Leonard St., in Beacon, followed by interment with military honors at St. Joachim’s Cemetery.

Joe Heady (1961-2024)

Joseph F. Heady, 63, died at his home on Dec. 15.

He was born in Beacon on Aug. 2, 1961, the son of Richard and Stella (Knapp) Heady. He attended Beacon schools and, on July 16, 1994, married Kathy Grove.

Joe enjoyed life, being outdoors and the company of friends and family.

Along with his mother and his wife of 30 years, Joe is survived by his children, Krystle Heady-Brady (Shawn) and James Browne, and his grandchildren: Corey, Kaydence, Rowan, Austin, Ashton, Amber, Sierra and Ella. He is also survived by his brother, William “Billy” Heady. His son, Corey Pike, died in 2004, and his siblings, Stella Thomas and Richard Heady Jr., died earlier.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 21) at Libby Funeral Home, 55 Teller Ave., in Beacon. Interment will take place in the spring at Fairview Cemetery in Beacon.

Marilyn Werner (1944-2024)

Marilyn Werner, 80, died Dec. 12 at her home.

She was born Jan. 29, 1944, in Astoria, Queens, the daughter of Walter Werner and Irene Werner Breit.

Marilyn worked as a bookkeeper for companies in Queens and New York City. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, her family said, and known for her humor, sarcasm and love for shopping.

She is survived by her children, Kevin Mosiurchak (Paola) and Laura Yonke (Richard), her grandchildren, Brandon and Ariana, and her sister, Barbara Le Goff. Her sister, Loretta Bennett, died earlier.
