Oct. 9 show will be fundraiser for Justin Veatch Fund

The Best of the Eagles band will perform at 7 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the Paramount Hudson Valley in Peekskill with all proceeds funding music programs and scholarships offered by the Justin Veatch Fund.

The fund was founded in 2009 following the death of high school senior Justin Veatch from an accidental drug overdose. Jeffrey Veatch, Justin’s father, travels around the region speaking on the risks of substance abuse. The fund has held other concert fundraisers but this is the first at the Paramount.

Tickets are $25 and $35 and available at paramounthudsonvalley.com or the box office. The concert’s main sponsors are Entergy, Park Ford of Mahopac and Plumbers & Steamfitters Local 21 of Peekskill.

Since 2009, the Justin Veatch Fund has awarded 16 scholarships. Last year $1,000 music scholarships were given to graduating seniors from Yorktown, John Jay, Mahopac, and Rye high schools. Graduating seniors from schools in the Yorktown area are invited to apply by the end of April each year.
