A Colorful Start to the Season

Tree lightings in Cold Spring and Garrison

Temperatures were chilly and the wind brisk in Garrison as Winter Hill hosted its fourth annual tree lighting on Thursday, Dec. 3, complete with blazing wood fires, hot cider, hot chocolate, bountiful food and carols by the Walter Hoving Home Choir.

In Cold Spring, a longstanding tradition continued on Sunday, Dec. 6, with the lighting of the Christmas tree at the riverfront bandstand. The Cold Spring Recreation Commission provided cookies and hot drinks. And, as it has for many years, the Cold Spring Fire Company brought Santa Claus to the festivities aboard a large red fire truck, much to the delight of the many parents and children who had anxiously awaited his arrival. Happy holidays to all!
