Haldane vs. Yonkers Montessori Academy (Sept. 10)

Haldane 4, YMA 0

First Half Scoring:  Justin Villa
Second Half Scoring:  Seth Warren, Andre van Dommele, Ryan Duffy
Keeper Saves:  Blaine Fitzgerald 7

“It was nice to get our first win of the season. We had some quality finishes today — Justin, Seth and Andre had beautiful strikes from outside the box and Ryan calmly slotted home a breakaway. That was really the difference today, we buried our opportunities in what was pretty even game. YMA did a really nice job of making us work, but I think we just wore them down a bit in the second half.  Blaine did a nice job in goal, and picked up his first varsity career shutout.”

Haldane @ Croton (Sept. 12)

Croton 1, Haldane 0

Keeper Saves:  Blaine Fitzgerald 6

“Croton scored with about 20 minutes left in the second half. Overall, the boys played really well, continuing to show improvement each game. I thought we possessed the ball well, but we got a little tired in the second half and Croton made us pay.”

Haldane vs. Alexander Hamilton (Sept. 14)

Haldane 2, Hamilton 1

Keeper Saves:  Blaine Fitzgerald 10

“The boys really had some good moments today, and then held on in the face of tremendous Hamilton pressure down the stretch. Blaine Fitzgerald came up big in the goal, making three of four really difficult saves late in the game to preserve the victory. Overall a really nice win as we head into the league portion of our schedule.”

Beacon Girls’ Soccer
Coach Hugo Alzate

Beacon @ Brewster (Sept. 9)

“The Bulldogs gave up an early goal off a free kick in the 7th minute to trail 1-0 but answered with six of their own goals. Anisa Alzate and Chloe Antalek led the charge with two goals and an assist each while Gabby Lucas had a goal and two assists. Analiese Compagnone added a goal and Eliza Ericson had two assists. Meagan Meeuwisse had four saves for the win.”

Beacon vs. Sleepy Hollow (Sept. 13)

“Make that three in a row for the Bulldogs after defeating Walter Panas on Sept. 12 and here avenged a loss from last year’s Section 1, Class A out bracket match vs. Sleepy Hollow, 3-1. After conceding the first goal 12 minutes in, Beacon answered two minutes later on a goal from Chloe Antalek (her 7th), assisted by Victoria Banks (her 2nd).

“After the half, the girls regrouped and came out hard. Reanna Cader, in one of the most exciting plays of the season, beat the whole left side of the defense by herself and scored her first goal of the season. Captain Gabby Lucas (3) added an insurance goal 5 minutes later on an assist by Analiese Compagnone (3).”
