Michael Keating (1942-2017)

Michael J. Keating, 75, of Athens, and formerly of Beacon, died Oct. 31, 2017, at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

Michael was born in New York City on March 21, 1942, the son of William and Josephine (Lehane) Keating. In 1961 he graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Vietnam era. On Dec. 6, 1997, he married Denise Hart.

Before he retired in 1993, Michael was a captain for the New York City Department of Corrections. Known to friends as “Mick” or “Mickey,” he had a passion for fishing and traveling, especially to Disney World. He was a member of the Corrections Department Pipe Band and the Emerald Society.

Besides his wife, Mick is survived by his daughters, Jennifer Martin (Kevin) of Wallkill and Christina Cornell (Chris) of the Bronx; his sister Mary Dolan of the Bronx; and six grandchildren: Faith Martin, Sarah Martin, Amanda Martin, Kevin Martin, Jr., Alyssa Cornell and Samantha Cornell.

A visitation will be held on Nov. 5, from noon to 4 p.m. at Cargain Funeral Home, 10 Fowler Avenue, Carmel. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Nov. 6 at 11:30 a.m. at St. John’s the Evangelist R.C. Church, 224 East Lake Boulevard, Mahopac. The interment will be private.

Donna Ann Korzekwinski (1966-2017)

Donna Ann Korzekwinski, 51, of Beacon, died Oct. 17, 2017 at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.

Born July 25, 1966 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Alfred and Elisa (Rossini) Wilson. She married Thomas Korzekwinski and was a hair stylist.

In addition to her husband and her mother, Donna is survived by her three children.

A memorial service was held on Nov. 3 at Changepoint Church in Poughkeepsie.

Louise Menger (1932-2017)

Louise B. Menger, 85, a lifetime resident of Beacon, died Nov. 1, 2017, at her home after a long battle with dementia and osteoporosis.

She was born Feb. 10, 1932, at Highland Hospital in Beacon to John and Mary (Williams) Tomlins. In December 1950, she married Richard Menger, who died in 2007. Louise was known for her culinary skills and spotless home.

She is survived by her children, Kenneth W. Menger and Shari Lanza (Anthony); and her grandchildren, Kayla and Jackie Lanza.

Services were private. Memorial contributions may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice (hvhospice.org)

Neil Sullivan

Cornelius “Neil” Sullivan, of Beacon, and formerly of Catskill, died Oct. 21, 2017.

He is survived by his partner, Theresa DeLude; his children, Colleen Sullivan and Brian Sullivan; his brother, Richard Sullivan (Linda); and his sister, Virginia Law (Danny).

Neil was a member of the National Guard, the Elks and St. Rocco’s Society. He also served on the Beacon Zoning Board of Appeals.

A celebration of his life was held on Oct. 28 at St. Rocco’s. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org).
