Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of a 17-old Garrison youth on criminal charges for the alleged theft of a credit card and cash. On Dec. 22, 2010, the Haldane CSD reported that a credit card and cash were stolen from a student attending gym class. The stolen credit card was used at several businesses in Cold Spring and Dutchess County, allowing investigators to identify the suspected thief.
The suspect was arrested and charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree, a class “E” felony and arraigned before Philipstown Town Justice Alan Steiner. The subject has been remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash bail and is scheduled to appear in the Village of Cold Spring Justice Court on Feb. 9.  If convicted, he faces a term of imprisonment of up to four years.
