Cookbook and nutrition guide by Marika Blossfeldt
Local author, speaker and coach Marika Blossfeldt has published her first book. It is scheduled to arrive in Beacon, on April 20. Blossfelt, a health coach who has conducted many workshops at Beacon Natural Foods, draws from her knowledge of natural foods and her experience in conducting private and group health coaching programs as well as wellness retreats, in weaving together food, art and the joy of living a healthy and fulfilling life in this book. Essential Nourishment, a cookbook and nutrition guide, presented from a holistic point of view, fuses an appreciation for the sensual pleasures of natural foods with a sensible approach to nourishment; encouraging readers to choose food with awareness and intention. The first Estonian edition of Essential Nourishment was published in 2009 and quickly became a bestseller there.Â
      Blossfeldt was born in Estonia, grew up in Germany and currently divides her time between Beacon and Estonia. She studied painting in Berlin and contemporary dance in New York City. She was a featured soloist in the New York dance scene during the 80s and 90s. In the late 90s Marika restored a traditional farm complex in her native Estonia and transformed it into an international arts and wellness center, called Polli Talu Arts Center During the summer she facilitates yoga, wellness and cooking retreats there.Â
