Civil War encampments and the history of the “Duryee Zouaves “

The Putnam County Historical Society will provide a look into the life of a Civil War Soldier on Saturday, Aug. 13. Company A of the 5th New York Volunteer Infantry, the “Duryee Zouaves“, one of the oldest Civil War living history organizations will be on-hand. They will discuss Civil War encampments, the history of the Duryee Zouaves and demonstrate some of the weaponry used during the war.

The event will take place from 5-7 p.m. It is free and open to the public. For additional information call 845-265-4010.
