Long-time Cold Spring resident was 83

Carl E. Hansen, a long-time resident of Cold Spring, age 83, entered eternal life on May 21 after several years of failing health. He was born on November 12, 1928, the only child of Karl K. Hansen and Sylvia M. Englebride in Jersey City, N.J. He was the beloved husband of the late Julia J. (Englebride) Hansen, who pre-deceased him in 1997. They were married at St. Paul of the Cross Church in Jersey City on May 30, 1971. Carl was a devout Catholic and parishioner of Our Lady of Loretto Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister.

Carl was a U.S. Army and Navy Veteran, having served honorably in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Ironworkers Union Local 45, working for many years on construction projects in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. After retirement, he worked as a school crossing guard for the Cold Spring Police Department. He is survived by his daughter Lillian Moser and her husband, Vince Moser.

Clinton Funeral Home of Cold Spring will be handling the funeral arrangements. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, May 24 from 5 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of Loretto Church in Cold Spring at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 25. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the Cold Spring Fire Company or Our Lady of Loretto Church.
