Traffic diverted for three hours

The New York State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle accident, which occurred on Route 9 in Garrison at approximately 8 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19. The incident caused police to close the road for a little over three hours between Route 301 and Travis Corners Road.

State police officials said the accident at Watergrass Lane involved three vehicles, one of which reportedly veered into the oncoming traffic. Four people were reported injured, including two that required extraction from a vehicle.

Medevac helicopters were used to transport two of the victims to regional hospitals.

The state police were assisted at the scene by Putnam County sheriff’s deputies and all of the town’s volunteer fire companies as well as the volunteer Garrison and Philipstown ambulance corps and paramedics from Transcare Ambulance.

State police ask that anyone who witnessed the accident call Investigator Sean Morgan or Trooper John Kehoe at the Cortlandt office at 914-737-7171. All calls are kept confidential.
