Teens bring Lucky Boy to New York City July 10-13
Lucky Boy, an original rock musical written and produced by John Ryerson of Lake Carmel, will be performed July 10-13 at The Robert Moss Theater in New York City. Its cast includes three adults, plus 24 young men and women who reside in Putnam and Dutchess counties.
According to Ryerson, “The future of musical theater is in the hands of the young!”
Talented and charismatic high school senior Jason Tripp is on top of his game and ready to take on the world. Respected by the guys and chased by the girls, he’s destined to make it and make it big. However, when his world is suddenly turned upside down by changing events, Jason goes from being top-dog to becoming a stranger in a strange place in just one day.
Little does Jason know that a serendipitous collision with an off-beat group of “loser” kids would unexpectedly become his — and their — saving grace.
Ryerson wrote the book, music and lyrics for Lucky Boy. He is also the artistic director of the Pied Piper Youth Theater (PPYT) a nationally recognized award-winning children’s theater in Stormville, New York. His spouse, award-winning actress Bonnie Halligan, is co-director at PPYT, as well as director for the production.
Choreographer is Carmel High School graduate and dance major at The Hart School of Dance Kayla Hamilton, a PPYT alum whose experience includes the American Ballet Theatre and the Joffrey Ballet School of New York. Event marketing is being managed by Kevin Johnson, another Carmel High and PPYT graduate.
