8th annual event set for New Paltz

Calling All Poets will hold its 8th Annual Poetry Marathon from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20, at its new home, Roost Studios, 69 Main St., New Paltz. (It had been meeting on the first Friday of each month at the Center for Creative Education in Beacon.) General admission is $5, or $4 for CAPS and Roost members and $3 for students and seniors.

More than 50 poets will share their work, and there will also be an open mic. Pizza will be served from 6 to 7 p.m. New to the Marathon this year is the Hudson Valley Book Fair, during which poets and regional publishers will offer books for sale. The second CAPS Anthology has recently been published and CAPSCASTS, archival readings from the series, can be heard on Beacon’s Community Internet Radio Station (theground.town) as well as SoundCloud, YouTube and callingallpoets.net.

Donations to CAPS, which recently became a non-profit organization, can be made at gofundme.com.
