Michael Corcoran (1926-2016)

Michael Corcoran, 89, of Cold Spring, died Oct. 28, 2016, at Hudson Valley Rehabilitation and Extended Care. He previously lived in Astoria, Queens.

Born in Waterford, Ireland on Nov. 8, 1926, he was the son of James and Mary (Roberts) Corcoran. On Sept. 11, 1955, he married Marion (Whalen) Corcoran, who died in 2009.

Michael was a life member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, having completed 50 years of service. He originally worked for Local 2163 on the west side of Manhattan before transferring to Local 279 in Beacon. He was proud to help many others get their start in the union, and was always there to give a hand.

He is survived by his children, Mary Pat Corcoran of Beacon; James M. Corcoran (Michele) of Hopewell Junction; Thomas Corcoran of Greenwich, Connecticut and Theresa Corcoran of Cold Spring. He also is survived by granddaughters Amanda Corcoran of Scarborough and Kathleen Corcoran of Austin, Texas; a brother, Thomas Corcoran of Waterford, Ireland; and a niece, Eleanor and Rosemary of Waterford.

In addition to his wife and parents, Michael was predeceased by four sisters and five brothers, all of Waterford.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Nov. 2 at St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Fishkill with interment at Cold Spring Cemetery.
