Perley Heady (1957-2017)

Perley “Sonny” Heady, 60, of Hopewell Junction, died March 18, 2017, at Vasser Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie.

He was born Dec. 8, 1957, in Beacon to Perley and Jacquelyn (Atkinson) Heady. Known as Sonny to friends and family (or “grouchy old man” to his loving children), he was a caring companion and friend who loved to bust balls and instigate whenever a situation presented itself with no mercy on the elderly or young. Wise in his years, with a hysterical sense of humor, he will be dearly missed.

Sonny attended Dutchess Community College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from SUNY New Paltz.

He is survived by his companion Eileen Sherwin and his five children and their spouses: Alicia Arrigo-Bates (Jada Bates); Stephanie Williams (Robert); Perley “PJ” Heady (Nicole), Ashley Heady and Tori Heady, and his grandchildren Alex, Lily, Kylee, Perley Jackson, Aubrey, Hank and Devyn. Also surviving are his sister Sharon Schaffer (Charlie) and his brothers Shaun Heady and Guy Heady.

A funeral service was held March 23 at the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home in Fishkill.

Chuck Jenkins

Chuck Jenkins Jr. (1963-2017)

Charles “Chuck” Lawson Jenkins Jr., 53, died Feb. 11, 2017, at his home in Greenville, South Carolina. He was born in Beacon on July 18, 1963. Memorial services will be at a later date.

Hester Plimley (1927-2017)

Hester P. Plimley, 89, of Beacon, died March 22, 2017, at home. Born Aug. 19, 1927, in Beacon, she was the daughter of George and Hester Josephine (Potter) Lewis.

Helen Plimley

Hester was a retired quality control person with Fairchild in Wappingers Falls and a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Beacon.

She married Thomas Plimley, who survives her, on April 6, 1947 in Beacon.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Susan Leenhouts (Tim) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; Linda La Plante (Gary La Plante) of Kent, Washington; and Terry VanVoorhis (Dan) of Fishkill. She also is survived by nine grandchildren: Jeff, Mark, Kacey, Kerry, Jackie, Eric, Chris, Matt and Brian, and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held March 24 at Libby Funeral Home in Beacon, with interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice, 374 Violet Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12601.

Richard Rodriguez

Richard Rodriguez (1946-2017)

Richard J. Rodriguez, 70, of Wappingers Falls, died March 11, 2017, at Mid Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie. Born Nov. 26, 1946 in the Bronx, he was the son of John and Erma Rodriguez.

Richard was a master mechanic who served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 during the Vietnam War. Survivors include his wife Margaret “Maggie” Rodriquez and two children, Robin Jolene Rodriguez and Patricia Dianne Maloney, both of Beacon.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 28, at 1 p.m. at Libby Funeral Home in Beacon. Memorial contributions may be made to Hudson Valley SPCA, 940 Little Britian Road, Newburgh, NY 12553.

June White

June White (1933-2017)

June Marie White, 83, a longtime resident of Beacon and Englewood, Florida, died March 8, 2017, at Elant at Fishkill with her family by her side.

June was born in Beacon on May 29, 1933, the daughter of Harry and Helen (Russell) Cornish. She married James Henry White, who died in 1984.

June is survived by her son, James White (Diane) of Beacon; her grandchildren, James Ryan White (Meagan) of Huntington and Lauren Nicole White of Slate Hill.

Funeral services were private with interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
