Putnam County will mark its 205th birthday with a ceremony on Friday, June 9, at 10 a.m. at the Historic Courthouse at 44 Gleneida Ave. in Carmel.

County Executive MaryEllen Odell and County Historian Sarah Johnson will recognize residents for their contributions to local history, including Kelley Howard, former executive director of the Putnam Valley Historical Society, the Desmond-Fish Library for its Livingston-Svirsky Archive and Scenic Hudson for its innovative historic interpretation and preservation.

A birthday cake will be served after the ceremony in the lobby of the David D. Bruen County Office Building.
