Tony Iannarelli

Tony Iannarelli (1933-2017)

Antonio Iannarelli, 84, of Tarrytown, died on Sept. 6, 2017, surrounded by his family. Among his survivors is a son, Peter Iannarelli, of Beacon.

Born May 27, 1933, in Barisciano, Italy, he was the son of Vincenzo and Teresa Iannarelli. He came at age 21 to New York City, where he met Domenica Scipioni, who would become his wife of more than 60 years.

After 25 years of working as a foreman who specialized in acoustical ceilings, Tony established his own company, Tony Iannarelli and Sons Construction. He was also an avid outdoorsman he enjoyed hunting and telling stories of long ago (and not so long ago) on the back porch overlooking the mountains. He loved the Catskills because it was reminiscent of growing up in the Apennine Mountains of the Abruzzo region of Italy.

Besides his son Peter, Tony is survived by his sons Vincent Iannarelli of Tarrytown, Anthony Iannarelli (Laura) of Sleepy Hollow and Danny Iannarelli (Dia) of Pound Ridge; his daughter Theresa (Scott) of Briarcliff Manor; his grandchildren Emily, Jon, Ava, Ashley, and Jennifer Parente (Peter); his great grandchildren, Peter Parente Jr. and Amelia Parente; and his brother, Luciano Iannarelli (Anna) of Italy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Sept. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Magdalene, 525 Bedford Road, in Tarrytown.
