Vito Chirico (1936-2018)
Victor “Vito” Chirico, 81, died at the Firemen’s Home in Hudson on Jan. 3, 2018. Among his survivors is a brother, Roger Chirico (companion Jennette Yannitelli) of Cold Spring.
He was born Sept. 7, 1936, in Crugers to Roger and Ercelia Chirico. He attended Hendrick Hudson High School and served in the U.S. Army.
Along with his brother Roger, Vito is survived by his siblings Jean Ruh of Poughkeepise, James Chirico (Betty) of Fishkill, Michael Chirico (Patty) of Buchanan and Palma Shloer (David) of Westerlo. He is also survived by his former wife, Barbara Chirico and six children: Dianna Chirico-Vacca (Richard Vacca), Tina Chirico, Joseph Chirico (Donna) and their children Francesca and Giovanni, Marina Crispi (Carmine) and their children Nicholas and Mathew, Tony Chirico (Toni Lynn) and their children Dante’ and Rylee and Christopher Chirico.
A service is scheduled for Jan. 11 at the Firemen’s Home Chapel, with a reception to follow at the Firemen’s Home. Memorial donations may be made to the Firemen’s Home, 125 Harry Howard Ave., Hudson NY 12534.
Elizabeth Hynes (1932-2018)
Elizabeth Mary Hynes, 85, of Cold Spring, died Jan. 6, 2018, in Peekskill surrounded by her family.
Born March 9, 1932, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Stephen and May (Carney) O’Kunski. She married Thomas Hynes on May 21, 1957, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Long Island City.
Elizabeth was a member of the Catholic Daughters County Rita 789, the district deputy for the Catholic Daughters, a member for the Architectural Review Board for the Village of Cold Spring for 25 years and a member of the Philipstown Republican Committee for 25 years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her son, Timothy Hynes (Lynn) and her grandchildren Maureen Roush (Arthur) and Elizabeth Hynes.
Funeral services will take place at a later date.
