Pete Seeger Inspires
The Howland Cultural Center has issued a call for entries for an art exhibit to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the May 3 birth of folk singer Pete Seeger, a longtime Beacon resident.
Paintings, photographs or works in other visual media that express an experience with Seeger are welcome for the juried show. The deadline is March 15. See the posting at howlandculturalcenter.org for details.
Writing the Wall
The deadline for submissions to the 13th annual Writing the Walls Poets’ Walk is Feb. 27. Writers are asked to interpret artwork from the exhibit Death is Irrelevant, on display at Hudson Valley MOCA in Peekskill, into poems and one-page plays.
The works selected will be performed during the poet walk, which takes place May 11, and will hang alongside the artwork through July. See bit.ly/poet-walk for guidelines.
