Charged with burglary at Looper’s Plaza
A New York City man was arrested in Beacon on Wednesday (Dec. 13) for burglary and has been turned over to the New York Police Department, where he had an outstanding warrant.
Beacon police said they responded to Looper’s Plaza (1020 Wolcott Ave.) to investigate the burglary of a business. While on scene, officers found damage to a glass door at another business.
Security footage was reviewed and revealed a suspect, identified as Ronald L. Johnson, 29, who was arrested later that day. He was charged with felony counts of burglary, criminal mischief and attempted burglary and a misdemeanor count of petit larceny. While in a holding cell, police said Johnson repeatedly kicked the cell door in an attempt to damage it, and he was charged with attempted criminal mischief, a misdemeanor.
After being arraigned in City Court, Johnson was turned over to NYPD officers to answer to a warrant for second-degree burglary.
