Perspective of proposed Marathon site development

Through meetings, e-mails, and written comments, the Village of Cold Spring continues to solicit input on ideas for use of the former Marathon battery plant site, Dockside Park, and Village Garage. First up in the days ahead: Public discussion on the Marathon site is scheduled for the regular business meeting May 26 — this Thursday — of the Special Board for a Comprehensive Plan-Local Waterfront Revitalization Plan. To begin at 7:30 p.m., the meeting will be held at the Village Hall, 85 Main St. According to an announcement from the village government, the purpose is “hearing from key stakeholders and the general public on their wishes for the Marathon property.”
The Special Board sponsored a public forum on the three key sites on May 14. Just as the Marathon site, on Kemble Avenue, will be on the agenda again on Thursday, the Dockside and Village Garage properties will be covered at upcoming Special Board meetings.
Also, the drawings with concepts for the Marathon, Dockside and Village Garage sites that were presented May 14 are now available on the Cold Spring Village website. All those interested can find the materials and comment sheet forms HERE .
Members of the public likewise can view the drawings and find blank comment sheets at the Village Hall, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on weekdays. Moreover, they can contact the Special Board chairman, Mike Armstrong, by e-mail: [email protected]. “Our May 14 Workshop gave us a wealth of fresh feedback from the community on Dockside, the Village Garage site, and Marathon,” Armstrong said. “There are many different ideas, and, frankly, not all of them are compatible. I am hopeful that what the community settles on will be truly good for all the stakeholders and a joy for future generations.”
