Verbal dispute with minor

The Cold Spring Police Department reported the arrest on Wednesday (March 14) of a Dutchess County man, following an alleged Jan. 24 incident involving a child and a local resident. According to Officer in Charge George Kane, the event occurred at Depot Square and Main Street when the minor engaged in a verbal dispute with an unnamed Cold Spring resident and the adult in question became embroiled as well, leading to accusations of assaulting a minor and causing injury. The police identified the man arrested as Michael A. Jones, 29, of Beacon, and said he has been charged with two misdemeanors: assault third-degree and endangering the welfare of a child. After arraignment in criminal court in Cold Spring on Wednesday afternoon, Jones was remanded to the Putnam County jail, with $10,000 in bond and $5,000 cash bail. Police Officer Patrick Lavelle conducted the investigation for the department.
