Doric String Quartet to Perform at Howland on Nov. 18

On Sunday, Nov. 18 at 4 p.m., the Howland Chamber Music Series will continue with a performance by the Doric String Quartet.

Though relatively new to American audiences, this British quartet has been performing in Europe since 1998. At the Howland Center they will be playing Haydn Quartet Op. 20, No. 5, the Chausson Quartet and Schubert’s Death and the Maiden quartet.

The Howland Cultural Center is located at 477 Main St. in Beacon. Tickets are $30, but students pay $10. Anthony Tommasini praised his “beautiful colorings and articulate touch.” In a program of “Fantasies,” he will play works by Mozart, Schumann, Grieg and Sibelius.
