Complaint filed by Haldane officials

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith reports the arrest of two Cold Spring teenagers after his department received a complaint from Haldane Central School District officials that an unlawful entry was made into the high school.

School authorities contacted the sheriff’s office on Aug. 28, reporting that they had observed two youths on surveillance camera video entering the high school on Aug. 22, at about 1 a.m. The case was assigned to Investigator Robert Ferris of the Sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation. After conducting several interviews, he was able to identify the intruders, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old.

The pair was charged with criminal trespass in the third degree, a class B misdemeanor. They were released to their parents without bail pending a future court appearance.

To the extent that pending criminal matters may be discussed herein, a charge is merely an accusation and a defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
