Performances will take place at St. Mary’s

The Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival will present All Is Calm, by Peter Rothstein, with musical arrangements by Erick Lichte and Timothy C. Takach, at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12, and Saturday, Dec. 13, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church.

All Is Calm, directed by Moritz von Stuelpnager, tells the story of the famous 1914 Christmas Truce through the words of World War I soldiers. This year marks the 100th anniversary of that extraordinary night, when British and German soldiers put down their arms on Christmas Eve to exchange greetings and gifts. Some even enjoyed a friendly game of soccer. The performance includes Christmas carols from England, France and Germany.

Tickets are $40 and can only be purchased online at hvshakespeare.org. St. Mary’s is at 1 Chestnut St. (at the corner of Main Street) in Cold Spring. For more information, call 845-809-5750.
