Garrison student receives PTA and Fire Company scholarship

Matthew Andrew Hard of Garrison has been named Salutatorian of the Class of 2016 for James I. O’Neill High School in Highland Falls. Hard is the 2016 recipient of both the Garrison PTA Scholarship and the Garrison Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary Scholarship. He participated in Academic League for three years and was the recipient of that club’s award in his junior and senior years.

He has been a member of the National Honor Society, Youth in Government, science club and Student to Student. He has plays soccer for O’Neill since his freshman year, was captain of the junior varsity in tenth grade, a New York State Scholar Athlete in 11th grade and a member of the division champion team this season.
