The Garrison Volunteer Fire Department responded to a single-car accident on Route 9D near Dicks Castle Road in Garrison at about 8:20 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 23. A motorist driving south had swiped a pole, signs and a stone wall, then crossed the center line and ran off the road into the woods.

The Cold Spring Fire Department also responded, as did Philipstown ambulance and Garrison ambulance, which took the driver to the hospital. Traffic was blocked for a short time.
