Bicycle tree will be lit Dec. 10

Continuing a unique tradition that began in 2011, the City of Beacon will host the annual lighting of the bicycle tree at Polhill Park at the corner of Main Street and Route 9D on Saturday, Dec. 10. Created by sculptor Ed Benavente, the tree is made from recycled bike parts and covered in multi-colored lights.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m., family-friendly activities include crafts, caroling and music. Santa Claus will arrive at 4:50 p.m. and the tree will be lit shortly after. Santa will greet children until 6 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring new, unwrapped toys or non-perishable foods to donate to families in need. Hot cider and hot chocolate will be served to anyone who brings a mug. Visit beaconarts.org for more information.
