The fireplace was all that remained of the pub at the back of the former Guinan’s on Garrison’s Landing as renovations on the building got underway. “A lot of stories were spun, a lot of problems put aside for another day, before the warmth of that hearth,” recalled Gwendolyn Bounds, author of Little Chapel on the River, an appreciation of its proprietors and patrons. Guinan’s closed on Jan. 31, 2008.
