June 13 meeting
- The contract for the Market Street pumping station replacement has been awarded to Kings Capital Construction of White Plains. Bart Clark, an engineer with Oakwood Environmental Associates who consults on many village projects, made the recommendation. King Capital’s bid of $224,024 bid was half that of the highest bid.
- Village Clerk Jeff Vidakovich will receive a six-month stipend of $1,250 for administrative duties as part of the recent consolidation of building departments with the Town of Philipstown. The stipend will be reviewed after that period. Vidakovich reported that 19 building department applications were received through the end of May and that 41 applications or projects were in progress at the time of the merger. Under the new arrangement Cold Spring residents will continue to submit building permit applications to the village office.
- A $5,000 severance package was approved for Mary Saari, who retired May 31 as village clerk.
- Officer-in-Charge Larry Burke reported that the Cold Spring Police Department issued 24 tickets for traffic violations in May, most of which were for speeding in a school zone, which had prompted complaints from residents. CSPD also responded to 87 calls for service and issued 67 parking tickets. Burke said he hopes to hire an additional officer soon. One officer recently resigned and two others are off due to injuries.
- Vendor fees as part of July 4 festivities were set at $100.
- Superintendent of Water and Waste Water Greg Philips reported that 866 of 884 new cellular water meters have been installed throughout Cold Spring and Nelsonville. Property owners who did not participate in the free installation service will now be responsible for that cost.
June 6 meeting
- A 2 percent pay increase was approved for village employees for 2017-18. The increase ranges from 23 to 90 cents per hour.
- A waiver for three parking spaces recommended by the Planning Board in conjunction with the expansion of Rincon Argentino Café at 21 Main St. was approved at the standard fee of $250 per space.
- During the early stages of the recently approved consolidation of the Village of Cold Spring and Town of Philipstown building departments, the village fee schedule will remain in effect. Merandy said that while the two fee schedules are similar, some of the town’s rates are higher. Trustees will review and comment on the two rate schedules before considering any change.
- Trustees approved the village clerk’s request to close the office on Friday afternoons at 12:30 p.m. The office was previously closed on Monday afternoons.
