Philipstown residents organize event

A Community Congress to promote participatory democracy at the local level will have its first forum at 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 27, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Cold Spring. The purpose is to identify important issues and create plans of action to present to elected officials.

Anyone who wishes to speak will have three minutes to present an issue. After the forums are concluded, organizers will compile the ideas and survey participants to determine priorities.

If you wish to speak, email [email protected] with a two- to three-sentence summary. If you can’t attend the meeting, ideas may also be submitted to that email.

The organizers are Philipstown residents Jason Angell, Jocelyn Apicello, Priscilla Goldfarb, Jane Marcy and Thomas Steenburg, and the event is sponsored by the nonpartisan Ecological Citizens Project. See ecologicalcitizens.org.
