The Garrison School hosted a day-long Youth Climate Summit on May 17 that drew middle-school students  Garrison, Manitou, Haldane, Putnam Valley, Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery, Carmel, Byram Hills and Tarrytown. The participants attended workshops on everything from mushroom inoculation to renewable energy to recycling clothes and composting. They also created climate action plans for their schools or districts.

Garrison PTA President Krystal Ford and middle-school science teacher Kevin Keegan led the many organizers, and the Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES provided help videotaping the event and bringing in “the green machine” traveling classroom.
