Nelson Ocasio Sr., 89, a longtime Beacon resident, died June 28 at his home in Fishkill. 

He was born in San Germán, Puerto Rico, on Sept. 22, 1934, the son of Telesforo Ocasio and Margarita Vega, the youngest and last surviving of their 18 children. On March 4, 1978, at St. Jerome Church in the Bronx, he married Ana Cecilia Acosta.

Nelson owned and operated The Butcher Man in Newburgh for 29 years until his retirement. He loved horses (which he owned and raised), and dogs.

Along with his wife of 46 years, Nelson is survived by six children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His family gathered with friends for a Mass of Christian Burial on July 1 at St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
