For the first time since the pandemic, the Hudson Highlands Pipe Band on Feb. 1 hosted its annual fundraiser to celebrate the Scottish poet Robert Burns (1759-1796). The sold-out event at The Garrison in Philipstown included bagpipes, drums, traditional toasts and a meat pudding containing sheep’s pluck known as haggis. Gianna Colon, a “pipe in training,” recited a traditional short prayer, “Selkirk Grace,” in Scots.
