Harold Cohen (1935-2025)
Harold S. Cohen, 89, died Feb. 22 at Northern Dutchess Hospital, surrounded by loved ones.
He was born in the Bronx on Nov. 29, 1935, the son of Abraham and Rose Cohen.
Harold enjoyed the simple things in life and especially spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends. He was always smiling and always positive, his family said, and you could always count on him to tell a silly joke. He was an avid Yankees fan.
He kept up with his grandchildren’s lives, birthdays and special events on social media. He was always creating and printing photo collages of his family to display around his home.
Harold is survived by his wife, Judith; his children: Shelly White (Steven), Daniel Posta (Dawn), Susan Marino (John) and Audra Brown (Vinnie Gentile); his grandchildren, Lindsey White, Noah White, Jessica Irigoyen, Daniel Brown, Daniel Posta Jr., Angela Marino and Nova Marino; and his great-grandchildren, Peyton and Kiernan Irigoyen, Alexis and Anna Frey. His first wife, Robin, and son, Stephen Posta, died earlier.
A funeral service was held Feb. 28 at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
Sandra Weed (1951-2025)
Sandra Jean Weed, 73, died Feb. 21.
She was born Aug. 7, 1951, in Beacon, the daughter of John and Verna Mae (Rothery) Holloway. After graduating from Beacon High School and attending nursing school, she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City and Cigna in medical claims. She retired in 2016. Sandra lived for 24 years in Budd Lake and Flanders, New Jersey before returning to Beacon.
She is survived by her son, Randy Weed; her brother, John Holloway; her nieces and nephew, Angel Mae Holloway, Amy Lynn Ashlock and John Douglas “JD” Holloway; and a great-niece, Alice Holloway. Funeral services will be private.
Daniel Yanarella (1946-2025)
Daniel J. Yanarella, 78, formerly of Beacon, died at home in New Windsor on Feb. 22.
He was born on Dec. 11, 1946, in Beacon, the son of Ernest and Margaret (Kochay) Yanarella. After graduating from Beacon High School, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1966 to 1968. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war and achieved the rank of sergeant.
Dan worked as a carpenter for New York State Palisades Park until his retirement in 2002. He also worked as a real estate agent in Monroe. He lived in New Windsor for 24 years and was formerly of Central Valley.
He is survived by his son, Christopher Yanarella, and his siblings, Tina Kearney, Jean Noack, Ernest Yanarella and Paul Yanarella. His sisters Peg Hosky and Linda Olivo died earlier.
Funeral services will be private, followed by interment at St. Joachim Cemetery.
