MEMORIAL DAY — Residents of Philipstown and Beacon paused on Monday (May 27) to remember those who lost their lives during military service. In Cold Spring, World War II and Korean War veteran Parge Sgro was grand marshal of the traditional parade up Main Street from the war memorial to Cold Spring Cemetery.
In Beacon, a ceremony at the Veterans Memorial Building on Main Street also marked the 100th anniversary of the building, which was constructed in 1924. A flyover of vintage planes was canceled because of an expected storm.
