Van Cortlandtville Elementary School kicked off an outdoor education effort on April 15, with the official ground breaking of the school’s Edible Garden complex and outdoor education site. The Edible Garden and outdoor classroom was funded by parents, staff, and the community (including the Lakeland Education Foundation, DiPietro Construction Corporation, and Home Depot). This garden will enhance the school’s science curriculum at all grade levels, and will give students the opportunity to plant, nurture, harvest and taste fresh veggies.

  1. That is wonderful. I hope it inspires the students to grow a garden at their homes too.
