To accommodate as many participants on a busy weekday, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Cold Spring has scheduled two services on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, one at 10:30 a.m. and the other at 6 p.m. Both liturgies will include distribution of ashes, which Christians regard as a sign of mortality and repentance. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent, the somber period preceding Easter. St. Mary’s welcomes all, regardless of denomination. The church is located above the lawn at the traffic light at the corner of Main Street (Route 301) and Chestnut Street (Route 9D) in the center of the village.
