Local 845 announces the return of Rhythm on the Riverfront, a four-part concert series at Long Dock Park in Beacon produced in cooperation with Scenic Hudson.

Opening the series on Thursday, Aug. 2, is the band Matuto, who write of themselves: “Imagine the sound of a Brazilian Carnaval in the Appalachian Mountains. Matuto (“bumpkin” in Brazilian slang) moves … between bluegrass and forro; between swamp rock and maracatu; between surf-guitar shimmies and the wah-wah of the berimbau.” Recently Matuto was selected as one of 12 bands from nearly 300 nationwide applicants to tour internationally as American Musical Ambassadors through the U.S. State Department and American Voices. Visit matutomusic.com for audio links and more.

All shows are 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. and free. Beacon restaurants Poppy’s and Tito Santana will have food for sale.

Other shows in the series are: Tin Pan on Aug. 9, The Big Takeover on Aug. 16, and Readnex Poetry Squad on Aug. 23. For more information, visit local845.com.
