Asking for volunteers to help rebuild collapsed deck

Last Saturday (Nov. 16) the Shepherd’s View Animal Sanctuary, located at 61 Torchia Rd., Cold Spring, had a deck collapse. Informed by their insurance provider that their homeowner’s insurance will not cover the cost of repairs, they have made an appeal to the community, asking for help in dismantling the deck, which is now threatening to crash down the mountain where a walking path exists.

Per the information they provided, “A newly fitted chicken coop was on this deck which was also used as the wildlife viewing deck.  We’re trying to gather some strong men and women who can help for a few hours this Saturday morning, Nov. 23, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to dismantle the deck. If you can spare even an hour, that would be so helpful. We are going to try to save as much of the deck as possible for the re-build.”  Food and drink will be provided to the volunteers.

Animals and birds currently in residence at the shelter include goats, sheep, ducks, chickens, dogs, cats, rabbits and a parrot. According to their Facebook page description: “Situated on top of a mountain, animals of all types find their homes here. Shepherd’s View provides food water, shelter, veterinary care, and the love and compassion that all animals deserve.”
