The Hudson Highlands Land Trust has created an award to recognize young leaders in conservation. It is named for Timothy Osborn Roberts, a local conservationist who died last year of cancer. Roberts was a founding member of the land trust’s Young Friends committee.

The trust said the inaugural award would be presented on Saturday, Oct. 20, to Jason Angell and Jocelyn Apicello of the Ecological Citizen’s Project for their work organizing and leading the Philipstown Community Congress.

An award will be presented to David Marzollo for his cleanup in August of more than 50 tires dumped in Indian Brook in Garrison.

The awards will be presented during the sixth annual HHLT Young Friends Fall Fest at Winter Hill in Garrison, which begins at 2 p.m.
