Letters of interest due by Aug. 16

The Garrison School Board is looking for two trustees to fill recent vacancies. The candidates appointed by the board will serve until the two winners of the May 19 election for the seats are sworn in.

The board said it prefers candidates with financial expertise, specifically in the areas of school and government, and who will seek re-election in 2020.

District residents who would like to be candidates for appointment should send a letter of interest and a biography by email to District Clerk Beth Murphy at [email protected] or by mail to Murphy at Garrison School, P.O. Box 193, Garrison, NY 10524. The deadline is Friday, Aug. 16, at 5 p.m.

Candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 18 years of age and a resident of the district for at least one year at the time of the appointment. They cannot be employees of the district. The board said it may conduct public interviews of applicants and that it plans to appoint the new trustees in September.
