Nancy Ann Musacchio, 88, a longtime Beacon resident, died June 16 at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Newburgh.

She was born in Peabody, Massachusetts, on March 30, 1936, the daughter of Charles and Sylvia (Trojanowska) Whitmore.
On June 24, 1956, at St. Joseph Church in Lynn, Massachussetts, she wed Anthony “Chubs” Musacchio. They were married for 66 years, until his death in 2023. The couple were communicants at St. Joachim-St. John the Evangelist Church in Beacon and Nancy was a teacher at CCD.
Nancy worked as the office manager for McMillen Oil Co. in Beacon for 27 years, until her retirement. She served on the Board of Assessors for many years, retiring in 2021. Nancy was a member of the Beacon Republican Committee for more than 20 years and was the first woman to run for local office, in 1981 for the position of city commissioner of finance.
She was a life member of the Beacon Elks Lodge 1493 Ladies Auxiliary; she always enjoyed the fellowship there, and friends from the Lodge were like a second family. Nancy volunteered as Mrs. Claus at the Elks annual Christmas party.
Since her husband’s death, Elks Lodge members have provided love, support and even a car ride for her weekly social hour at the club. She was active with the Beacon Soccer Club with Pat Kerr and Robert Galloway from 1978, when she was instrumental in raising funds for the construction of the first soccer field in Beacon.
Nancy was a strong matriarch, her family said, supporting and encouraging her children to be the best they could be and to love and support one another.
She is survived by her children: Dawn D’Auria (Louis), Michael Musacchio, Anthony Musacchio (Ivona) and Troy Musacchio (Kathy), and her grandchildren, Marc D’Auria (Rachel) and Allan, Stephen, Anthony (AJ), Steven, Matthew (Zully) and Konrad Majchrzak (Annette).
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Sophia D’Auria and Klara, Casper, Lilah, Leandro, Alejandro and Mateo, and her sister, Jane Whitmore. Her siblings, Judith, Robert and Leonard, died earlier.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated June 20 at St. John the Evangelist, followed by interment at Fishkill Rural Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hudson Valley Hospice (hvhospice.org) or Kaplan Family Hospice of Orange & Sullivan (hospiceoforange.com).
