BASEBALL — Liam Murphy, a 2024 graduate of Beacon High School, last week was named by area coaches as the Section IX, Class A Player of the Year. Pitcher Mikey Fontaine and outfielder Jackson Atwell joined him on the All-Section team.
BOYS’ LACROSSE— With the lacrosse season over, the Journal News collected stats to highlight the best players in Section I. Among players who scored minimum 32 points, Haldane senior Evan Giachinta finished fifth among attackers with 80 points (41 goals and 39 assists). Fallou Faye ended the season with 50 for the Blue Devils and Ryan Van Tassel had 36 (24 goals and 12 assists).
Dylan Rucker finished 14th of 19 players in Section I who had a faceoff percentage of at least 60 percent; he finished at 61.3 percent.
