Marilyn L. van Laer, 87, a lifelong resident of Cold Spring, died June 24 in Dexter, Oregon, with her granddaughter Alexandra at her side.

She was born at Butterfield Hospital on May 25, 1937, the daughter of William and Lousie Roach. Marilyn graduated from Haldane High School in 1955. She worked for Sony Electronics Corp. in Park Ridge, New Jersey, until her retirement.

She is survived by her former husband, Charles van Laer; her daughter, Robin van Laer; and her grandchildren, Eric Edwards, Connor Fitzsimmons, Madison Fitzsimmons and Alexandra van Laer. Her daughters, Allison van Laer and Leslie Fitzsimmons, and her brother, William “Billy” Roach, died earlier.

Marilyn will be interred at Cold Spring Cemetery in a private ceremony.
